To be appealing to the emotional, having no basis in fact, to be impractical, or illogical. It is a word that, on one hand, can be embraced as beauty and ideal, and on another hand, reject what it is to perceive beauty in the first place. It serves as an existential confrontation of the objectively subjective and subjectively objective. The project exists sonically and aesthetically between suburban cloud rap and atmospheric black metal. It is beneath and on the fringe of both genres equally, aiming to draw parallels yet stand actively alone. It does not intend to transgress, but rather progress and blur genre definitions within the dialogue of underground contemporaries in both genres. Romantic ranges from depressing, aggressive, bleak, and dark to blissful, slow, and chilling atmosphere. Romantic lyrically draws from hip-hop materiality and ego manifestation, and black metal's nihilistic gaze into perception, value, meaning, identity, and purpose. Romantic conceptually and structurally exists as rap music, yet also expresses the crippling and haunting existential commentary typically screamed with objective certainty in the style of black metal.
